Position: Forensic Accounting Specialist
Legal & CPA Firm | Full-Time | Minimum 2 Years' Experience Required
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Forensic Accounting Specialist to join our busy forensic CPA practice. This full-time role supports complex litigation matters by managing and preparing large volumes of financial and accounting records used in forensic analyses. Our practice specializes in litigation support engagements, with a strong focus on high-net-worth divorce matters.
This position is ideal for a professional with prior experience in a CPA or law firm who has strong accounting knowledge and excels at organizing, summarizing, and preparing financial documentation critical to expert analysis and legal production.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize financial disclosures and supporting documentation for litigation matters
- Collect, review, and manage accounting records, including bank statements, credit card statements, brokerage statements, tax returns, financial statements, general ledgers, and business records
- Assist forensic accountants by identifying, obtaining, and organizing documents necessary for forensic accounting analyses, income determination, asset tracing, and financial reconciliations
- Electronically scan, index, and maintain large volumes of financial and legal documents using specialized document management software
- Prepare Notices of Production, Requests for Production, responses, and missing-document lists with a strong focus on accounting and financial records
- Track and monitor outstanding financial documentation and follow up with clients, attorneys, and third parties as needed
- Maintain organized and audit-ready electronic client files in accordance with firm and litigation standards
- Support accounting professionals in the preparation of schedules, summaries, and financial exhibits derived from produced documents
- Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with firm policies and litigation requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a CPA firm, forensic accounting practice, or law firm
- Strong understanding of accounting records and financial documentation commonly used in litigation
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Experience reviewing and organizing financial data in Excel; ability to work with detailed and complex financial records
- QuickBooks experience is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
